Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to schedule an appointment?
You do not have to schedule an appointment, but we prefer that you do. We fit walk-in's into our schedule whenever possible, but by making an appointment you can ensure an opening will be available when you arrive.
How long will my appointment take?
The length of time varies depending on the services you request and the questions you have. Generally, you can plan to spend about 30 minutes with us for a pregnancy test.
What kind of pregnancy test do you offer?
Birthright offers a free, self-administered, clinical pregnancy test. This test is designed to determine the presence of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotrophin (hcg), in urine. The manufacturer states that this test is 97% to 99% accurate seven to ten days after conception. This test will offer a positive or negative indication of pregnancy, but a final diagnosis can only be made by a doctor.
How much do you charge?
All Birthright services are provided free of charge, regardless of your income level.
Do you perform abortions?
Birthright is not a medical facility and we do not offer or perform abortions.
Where are you located?
We are located in the heart of Bel Air Maryland, at 38 E. Gordon Street, and offer pregnancy help in Harford County Maryland, but we also serve anyone in Maryland or southern Pennsylvania. Birthright is an International Organization with offices all over the world.
Are you a Catholic organization?
No. Birthright was founded in 1968 by a Catholic woman, and we do receive some financial support from local Catholic churches, but we are interdenominational. This means that we serve everyone who asks, regardless of their religious affiliation. All are welcome at Birthright.
